Lifelong Capital District Resident,

Meet Gabriella

As the first Latina and public defender elected to represent Albany’s 6th Ward, Gabriella has successfully worked to improve quality of life in our communities by passing legislation that invests in public spaces and infrastructure, supports tenants’ and workers’ rights, and increases transparency in government.

Gabriella Romero believes that:

  • everyone should have access to safe, affordable, quality education, housing, healthcare, and good-paying jobs.

  • we must fiercely protect women’s autonomy over their bodies and equitable access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare.

  • investing in our communities and implementing holistic diversion programs that address the root causes of crime will break the cycle of incarcerating our most vulnerable members of society and increase public safety.

  • we must address the impacts of the climate crisis through direct action, innovation, and also include impacted communities in development of policy solutions.

Dedicated Public Servant

Gabriella Romero works as a public defender and felony trial attorney representing people who lack the resources to defend themselves. She is a proven leader in criminal justice reform, and her unwavering commitment to increasing public safety has made a significant impact in Albany.
